Keyword Search
Search for:
HINTS & TIPS

>> SEARCH BY ARTIST'S NAME (eg Herbie Nichols) or by AUTHOR'S NAME (eg Gary Giddins) - but avoid initials (eg lewis erenberg rather than lewis e. erenberg)

>> SEARCH BY KEYWORD(S) - (such as modal, Kansas City or saxophone) but try to simplify your search (eg West Coast rather than West Coast jazz)

>> SEARCH BY BOOK TITLE - but words of a book title must be sequential. If sequential words (eg riding on a blue note) are not used, insert AND (eg riding AND blue note)

- queries are case-insensitive, so miles is the same as Miles

- you can use AND, OR, NOT - but NOT must be preceded by AND
(eg evans AND NOT bill will find the word evans - incl gil evans - but not bill evans)

- please inform us if you felt that your search was not productive

  • for multiple words use double-quotes ( "miles davis" ) - otherwise words are treated as alternatives
  • queries are case-insensitive, so miles is the same as Miles
  • you can use AND, OR, NOT - but NOT must be preceded by AND, eg "parker AND NOT charlie" will find pages containing the word parker but which do not include the word charlie;
    - use double-quotes to search on a phrase which includes AND, OR or NOT eg - "davis AND trumpet"
